Hi Rick, How do you install the Windows 7? Upgrading from Vista, or clean installation? First, please make sure the Volume Shadow Copy service and the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service are starting. You can check their status using the following steps. 1. Click the Start Button in the Start Search bar, type: "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter. 2. Double click the service "Volume Shadow Copy service".3. Click on the "General" tab; make sure the "Startup Type" is "Automatic". Then please click the "Start" button under "Service Status" to start the service. 4. Please repeat the same steps with the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service. You can also temporarily stop the two services, restart the computer, and then start the service again. After that, please test if you can make backup in the Clean Boot mode. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:1. Click the Start Button and type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search Box and press Enter.2. Select the Services tab in the open window. Check the “Hide all Microsoft Services” option and click Disable All.3. Switch to the Startup tab and click Disable All.4. Click OK to save the settings and select Restart when prompted.5. Check whether or not the issue still occurs. Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't adversely affect the system or other programs. We can still manually run these programs later. Now, you can make a backup using the following steps.1. Open Control Panel ans start creating a backup from the Backup and Restore center.2. Select the Location in order to save backup data.3. Once you have chosen your location, you can now choose what to backup. let's shoose the option "Let me choose". Note: uncheck the option before the "Include a system image of drivers: Unnamed driver,". 4. Now you can start your backup process. If you still get the error, please upload the screenshot of the error messge and the backup log in %windir%\Logs\WindowsBackup. Please upload them in your public folder in your SkyDrive. Good luck! John
