I have Windows 7 Home Pro. I had noticed that some of my files did not backup; therefore, I was attempted to execute chkdsk /f from the command prompt and I was asked if I wanted to run it the next time the PC was restarted. I selected "y". I then restarted my PC. The chkdsk did not start. Next I restarted in Safe Mode and ran chkdsk /f. Got the same results as before. I ran sfc /scannow to see if it could fix chkdsk. I noticed from the log file that the hashes for autochk.exe did not match and the system could not repair.It is my understanding that autochk what run the disk checker process at the boot. How do fix autochk?
