autochk hash mismatch
I have Windows 7 Home Pro. I had noticed that some of my files did not backup; therefore, I was attempted to execute chkdsk /f from the command prompt and I was asked if I wanted to run it the next time the PC was restarted. I selected "y". I then restarted my PC. The chkdsk did not start. Next I restarted in Safe Mode and ran chkdsk /f. Got the same results as before. I ran sfc /scannow to see if it could fix chkdsk. I noticed from the log file that the hashes for autochk.exe did not match and the system could not repair. It is my understanding that autochk what run the disk checker process at the boot. How do fix autochk? This is the message from the \Windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log file: (removed some of the actual data in case it is a security risk). <date> <time>, Info CSI 000002f7 Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-autochk_xxxxx\autochk.exe do not match actual file [l:22{11}]"autochk.exe" : Found: {hash value1} Expected: {hash value2} 2010-10-21 10:32:54, Info CSI 000002f8 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:22{11}]"autochk.exe" of Microsoft-Windows-Autochk, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {Token value}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch ---------------------------------- I got a similar log entry for: kernelceip.dll and tcpmon.ini
