attempting to change Power Scheme for a User Account, the instructions worked to change the Administrator account, but the changes made don't show up on the User accounts.
On my HP 510 laptop computer, I want to change the Power Scheme for one of the User Accounts. It cannot be changed from within the User Account, so I followed these instructions: log on as Administrator, make the desired selection from the list of available Power Schemes (Control Panel, Power Options, Power Schemes), click Apply, then log off as Administrator. I find that the selected Power Scheme has been applied to the Administrator account, but not to any of the User Accounts. I have tried changing it from within the User Account, but always receive the response "access denied". I recently installed Microsoft Security Essentials. My reading of various internet posts indicate that some older antivirus programs may have interfered with this Power Scheme process. I have not been able to discover how to inactivate Security Essentials, so have been unable to try changing the Power Scheme with no potential interference from it. Another post indicated potential interference from BIOS settings. I do not know how to check whether this may be the case. I have MS Windows XP Pro SP3 installed. I have Automatic Updates on, and current. thanks for any help you can suggest.1 person got this answerI do too
