Hi tazhi,If you only had one administrative user account and that's the one you were using and you've forgotten the password, the first thing to try is to boot into Safe Mode.Refer the below link for more information on how to get into Safe Mode.A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222a. The built-in Administrator account is disabled by default.b. You will see an icon for Administrator on the Welcome Screen in Safe Mode.c. Log in (the password will be a blank) and then go to Control Panel>User Accounts and change the password for your own user account to something you will remember. If nothing works, thenMicrosoft Support Engineers cannot help you retrieve passwords of files and features in Microsoft products that are lost or forgotten. For more information regarding this policy please refer to the sticky below: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistasecurity/thread/3eba3150-8742-4264-be9f-0daaad2282cd"Microsoft policy about lost or forgotten passwords"http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/189126Regards,Manasa P – Microsoft Support.
