apps and charms

Hello.

I was trying to open a file from a trusted source, but Windows Media Player couldn't open it. It has opened the same file before, just a different type, for example: meditation1, no problem opening, meditation2, again no problem. Meditation3 couldn't open. I shut down my computer and when I turned on my computer the next day, I touched my start button to get into my charms and apps. The screen was blank, no charms, no apps, just a blank blue screen. How do I restore and get my charms and apps back?

Thank you in advance for your help.

You may try a System Restore.

Hi Doreen,

Since it might be caused by faulty user profile or registry settings, you could try creating a new account then check this issue again.

If it works under new user account, try following the instructions as mentioned in this article (also apply to Windows 8.1)

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=windows-7

If same issue occurs under new account, as what has been suggested by MVP S.Sengupta, system restore might be the best option.
