after auto update, the apps on the start screen quit working.  i was able to find an answer for the store only, so it works.  all the rest won't open.  i don't know how to save that which i have installed that are not store apps so i don't want to refresh.  i have tried restore to no avail.

The symptom is that we can open the Windows Store and the others including the built-in store apps (such as photos,camara)won`t be opened ,right?
Have you got any error messages?
We can check the permissions issues according to the link posted by T. Kujala.

If the issue persists,we can try the following steps to have a check.
1. Run wsreset.exe to clear the store cache to have a check.
