app hangs with open window closed
I am running Window 7 RC 7100 with all available updates. When in explorer windows double clicking, right click and open, and right click and open with, if the window is closed before the application has fully opened and is all settled the app hangs. SMplayer has given me messages about mplayer failing. most media player and adobe reader and foxit reader don't give any message at all they just hang and in task manager they do not appear as unresponsive. I have never had this problem before and its a little annoying since its such an old habit double clicking something and closing the window and waiting for the app to open. Also i am finding often that i have multiple instances of explorer and there should be a article out there explaining why this happens because so far Google hasn't been able to tell me much about it only that i am not the only one with this issue.

Hi,When did this issue first occur? As windows 7 RC will expired next year and problems will definetely arise like restarting automatically, I suggest install windows 7 RTM as soon as possible. If you would like to continue use it, to help us troubleshoot the issue, you can test it in clean boot.Clean Boot =============This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. 1. Click "Start",and type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in the open box to start the System Configuration Utility. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". 4. Click "OK" to restart your computer to Selective Startup environment. 5. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.6. Check whether or not the issue still appears in this environment.

You may try ShellExView. Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. Run ShellExView, in the pane sort the entries with manufacturers. Disable all non-Microsoft *.dll files, and check the result. If the issue does not occur, one of the files can be the culprit. We could narrow down it one by one.Arthur Xie - MSFT
