When I click on start/all programs the window is blank. I have the RC installed on two computers and on the other one the all programs has a list of all the programs. Working all programs on an AMD duo core, non working on an Intel duo core. Both machine are home made with pleanty of memory and good video cards. Everything else is work great on the machine with no list of all programs.

Fillyflash, I installed the win 7 and had the identical problem you mention. However, I wasn't satisfied with what I saw, stripped win 7 off, reinstalled and the programs are there. Another quirk I had, in the first install Win 7 did not pick up my sound. After the reinstall it picked up the sound ok. Win 7 is still lousy and I hate searching for where they have moved a task. One time it shows up next time it's been moved and I spend 10-15 minutes trying to find where they have parked it this time. That continual changing of menu is the pits. someone didn't have anything to do when they came up with that idea. If I wanted to group my tasks in the past all I had to do was drag and drop, now I have to seek and search just to find where they are.Hope I don't have to upgrade this this thing, I have come to like Vista better each time I test win 7

@ fillyflash - Did you, by any chance upgrade a copy of Vista or a previous version of the Beta? There have been a few reports of upgrades doing just that - Everything works - just the start menu is blank. Also, when you say your program links are missing - do you mean the frequently used icons or the ALL PROGRAMS menu normally found at the bottom?@ Rev ArtPlease keep in mind that though the RC has the title of Release Candidate - it's still technically a beta. And as such, it's bound to have a few bugs under the hood... The same question goes out to you as well - did you do a clean install or did you upgrade something else the first time around?Secondly, what exactly do you mean by tasks jumping around? The only things I see changing around ever would be the frequently used shortcut links on the main part of the start menu. That mainly only happens when you use something quite frequently or you install something and it insists on putting your new program's link on your frequently used list. Beyond that, everything else stays pretty much exactly where it was when it was installed.. The control panel doesn't move from it's usual home to some place else - like My Documents...

Yes I did an upgrade on the machine with the bad start menu and did a clean install on the machine with the good start menu.

fillyflash - There have been a few reports of this particular issue popping up. It would seem that there are still a few kinks to iron out in the upgrade process. If you've got a Windows.OLD folder, you could try to locate the folders and shortcuts and copy them from their respective locations to the Windows 7 version of the same folder. That may or may not work. I have no means to test this as I did a clean install myself. Even then, there's no guarantee that the shortcuts would work. The programs themselves should not have changed their location. You can attempt to create new shortcuts if you can't locate the old ones. Of course, you probably won't be able to recreate every single shortcut. You might want to check the Programs and Features item in the control panel to double check to see if you can uninstall and reinstall or even repair your app installations.

Click on the Use Default Settings button 5. Click Ok 6. Click Apply 7. Open a program or two and ensure that the icons for these programs are showing in the recently opened items.Good luck

I had the same problem and here is how I solved it. Click on the Start button, Click on Computer, Open up the C: Drive, open the Program Files folder, perform a CTRL+A (Select all folders), Right click on all the folders, Select Properties. You will notice that the "Hidden" check box is selected. I am not sure why this happened or how, but once I unchecked it, all of my Menu items under All Programs showed up again. Very strange... TAKE NOTICE MS!!

I had lost the "All Programs" bar on my start menu. This repaired it.
