Every time I turn my laptop off and back on again, it requires me to put in a password. And when I am trying to do my homework, if I am not active for a certain amount of time, my screensaver pops up and I have to use my password to re log on to my computer. How do I turn off that password or make the inactive time longer?

Hi,

you did not even mention, which operating system you are using, but it is for sure not Windows Home Server, hence off topic here. Also the non-issue may depend not only from operating system, but also from your employer, who may have enforced some settings with a reason.

Protecting your data on a laptop with a password is the absolute minimum, you should keep (it could be lost and not having a password in would grant the finder access to all your stored passwords within a few seconds with the right software), as well as password protected screen saver (which kicks only in in your absence or time of longer inactivity.

(The screen saver timings and password protection can be configured separately from a set or non set user password.)

Best greetings from Germany
