Microsoft Policy will NOT cover password cracking and bypass password . Therefore, I advise you that in your guest account backup your data and do clean install of Windows but you will lose your personal data . If you have hint or password recovery disk that create in useraccount when create password you could try that.

CDT, just an opinion that in spite of the fact that we are not allowed to post the correct answer to this type of question, I would suggest that telling the OP to reformat his disk isgiving him faulty advice which will probably lead him into extra time and cost.It would be better just to say that for policy reasons we cannot give an answer. We might also point him to a forum where no such restrictions apply. (or is that also a policy violation..?)

I did mention that policy will NOT allow us. However, I advise that if use has BACKUP and will not loss any information do clean install. and I also mention that this will cause DATA LOST. In this scenario we could NOT just let user wait forever and there are cases that user has backup and forgot password then clean install would be best when user has backup. And clean install Windows is just one way. I has issue that one user bought new laptop and put password on it and do not do anything and forgot password in that case clean install was the best idea. That recovery software also might damage Windows password directory and cause system vulnerabate sometimes.

If you want to log on a computer but have forgotten your windows password, there is no cause for alarm. The following options are aviailable to help you access the system:1) Verify that you have typed the letters of you password in the correct case.2)Acess a password hint on the Welcome screen.3) Using a password reset disk.4) Log on as administrator to assign a new password to your account.Hope it can help you.
