ad-hoc and InternetConnectionSharing (ICS)
I have Windows 7 (build 7000) installed on two Laptops. One of them is connected to DSL, so I want to share my internet connection with the other laptop. What do i do?

Hi, Please read this on more information. Alternative, I suggest that you open up the "Help And Support" and search for ICS. It has full information there. But the concept is basically: 1. Open up Network and Sharing Center, and click Manage Network Connections 2. Right click on your Local Area Connection and select Properties. Click Sharing tab. 3. Tick "Allow other computers..." 4. Click OK 5. Create an Ad-Hoc connection (Wifi) and the connected users should be able to use the internet. If the above doesn't help, try bridging both LAN and Wireless adapter in Manage Network Connections. Hope this helps.Jabez Gan [MVP] - http://www.msblog.org Contributing Author for: (Sybex) MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration Study Guide: Exam 70-643

This is confusing. If the shared network is set to "Public" this does not work. The way Ad-hoc networks are shown is confusing : they don't appear at all in "Network & Sharing Center", only in the quick list above the tray icon. Also there is no way to force to remove one ?When connecting to the AdHoc network using WinXP, if the AdHoc was not setup with WAP or Open, it will say it work but it won't.(to be continued).
