activation fails on windows 7 when behind a http proxy, error code: 0X8004FE2F
Hello,I've installed windows 7 beta x64 a few minutes ago and I tried to activate it, but activation fails with the following error code: 0X8004FE2FFrom googling around, I found 1 person who had the same problem and that it might be related to an automatic proxy configuration script. Indeed, the PC is behind a corporate proxyand uses an automatic configuration script (.pac file) to access the internet. I tried several manual proxy configuration within IE or with "netsh winhttp set proxy" ... but nothing helped ... I keep getting this error, activation is impossible. As an additional info, we don't use any authentication on our http proxies!1) Anyone an idea on how to resolve this issue?2) How can I submit bug reports for windows 7?Thanks a lot!Kind regards,Didier

You need the MCDiag Tool in order to submit bugs successfully. The MCDiag tool is designed to automate the collection of system information for testers when submitting bugs. As for the Proxy will have to check and see if there is a solution available.~Alex T.~Windows Desktop Experience MVP~

Did you enter in a valid Product Key? You won't be able to activate Win7 until you've changed the product key to a valid one.Joe

Our security team has been able to track down the problem. The registrationtool & the feedback tool (which didn't work too) try to contactone of theseservers below without"user agent" information: sls.microsoft.comwer.microsoft.comconnect.microsoft.comOur proxies block traffic that does not contain user agent information, they had toallowthesepackets to the3 sites. Now everything works.
