accessing Buffalo linkstation web admin interface
I am running Vista 32bit on a wireless laptop. I have a LS-CHLv2 Buffalo Linkstation linked via ethernet to my router. I can access the shared drive in Windows Explorer, and map the drive and access folders set up just for my laptop login. I can access the
web admin page in safe mode on my Vista laptop, or in normal mode on a desktop running XP.
I cannot access the page in normal Vista. The page part loads - I can see the Buffalo banner, but instead of the login page apprearing there is a 'daisy' going round and round forever! Both laptop and desktop are running identical security software.
Following ideas on the Buffalo forum I’ve tried editing secpol.msc - Local Policies - Security Options - Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level and changed the setting from "Send NTLMv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2
session security if negotiated" and "Send LM & NTLM only". But it made no difference.
I’ve also tried editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SYSTEM->CurrentControlSet->Control->Lsa
Right-click on "lmcompatibilitylevel" and choose Modify Set the Value Data to 2 (default is 3) and click OK [actually default was 1]
The Buffalo people seem fixated on the idea it must be the security software, even though both computers run identical software, and the only difference is XP & Vista.
Does anyone have any ideas?
