Hi,
Is there any specific error message?
As the issue only occurs with some Windows 7 clients, the cause is located to client computers. This happens if the DNS server can’t be reached or
the service isn’t running on client computers. I would like to propose the following suggestions:
1.
Run Network Troubleshooter to manually
troubleshoot the problem.
2.
Check if DNS Service is started.
3.
Make sure that you have configured DNS server on your client, you need to configure a DNS Server on your client by performing the following steps:
1)
Right click the network icon at the right bottom of screen, click Open Network and Sharing Center, click Change adapter settings and right click the Local Area Connection Properties.
2)
Click Protocols, click TCP/IP Protocol, and then click Properties.
3)
Click Advanced , click DNS, click Add, and then type the IP address of your DNS server.
4)
Click Add, click OK, and then click OK again.
4.
Moreover, check the DNS server, make sure that a reverse lookup
zone exists and contains PTR records on Windows Server 2003.
BTW, you could also post in
Windows Server Networking forums for support as well.
Best Regards

Maybe your problem is just the fact that he windows 7 home clients are not a member of your domain. By default domain members append their domain name when they try to resolve a server name i.e. if you enter the url
http://mywebserver they look for http://mywebserver.mydomain.xy.
Can you reach the web site using the full qualified server name? If this is the case you can adjust the primary DNS suffix of the Windows 7 Home client. To do so open
Control Panel -> System. In the section Computer Name, domain and workgroup settings click
Change Settings. The system settings dialog will appear. Click Change Button and in the next dialog the
More button. You will see a dialog where you can define your primary DNS suffix.
