When I attempt to access a shared folder on WXP, I get the following message: ***************** \\xxxx\yyyy is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command. ***************** Note xxxx is pc name and yyyy is folder name. I get the exact same message if I try to access a shared folder on W7 from WXP.

On the XP machine run Regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters and make sure the value of IRPStackSize is set to 15 (hex F). If the IRPStackSize parameter doesn't exist, create it as a DWORD value and set its value to 15 (hex F).

I want to add relevant problem symptom to my original post: The XP computer and its shared drives are displayed on W7, and the error message is returned when I attempt to open the displayed drive of XP. The following is my follow-up to your suggested trouble shooting steps: 1. Ping went through OK. 2. No go 3. No go 4. No go 5. Worked Now how can I make it work with the "Password protected sharing" restored? The same error message still continues if I attempt to access W7 from WXP, which may or may not be related to the present problem.

I have this problem--same problem. My Win7 Ultimate machine cannot connect to my XP-Pro machine. Both use the same (administrative) login and PW. From XP I can access a drive on the W7 fine, as well as my Vista Laptop. I can access my Vista Laptop from either machine. I have allow annonymous access under LSA (as per one suggestion) on both machines and loosened up several other network restrictions from the Win 7 side. I can "see" the XP-Pro machine when browsing the network from "Map Networked Drive" but when I attempt to connect I receive ".. you might not have permissions" + "not enough server storage is available to process this command". Only one thread or two that I could find dealt with this latter issue directly--not sure if it is a red herring or not. I have applied permissions on the XP side for users to access and change my files. Wait! I may be onto something. The problem appears to be on the XP-Pro machine (i deduce) cause I can't connect from Vista either.. Hm.. OK, so I created an appropriate entry for IRPStackSize and that did not do the trick. Perhaps I'll reboot the XP machine, clear the log and recheck. Still getting same message. I'll post more later after working the XP side for a while--this seems to be the heart of the issue. f/up to my last post ~3 hours ago. I was unable to access an XP-Pro machine from Win 7. But Win 7 was NOT the problem. Neither could I access this from a Vista machine. all in same WG, all used same Login w/ same PW. Solution involved IRPStackSize --setting on the XP-Pro machine *** followed by reboot. I was immediately able to access a shared drive on the XP-Pro machine from both Win7 & Vista boxes. Thanks Y'all, Lyle Allen, Durham NC

I am experiencing the same problem as the original poster. I am using Windows 7 and under "Networks" am able to see the shared folder that represents my Windows XP machine. But when I attempt to open this folder, I get the following message: ***************** \\ComputerName\Folder is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command. ***************** In regards to the suggestions you presented, #1 went through ok. But regarding suggestion #2, where exactly do I enter that? In the address bar of my browser or at the command prompt? Sorry, I'm just familiar with this :) Thank you.

In some case, or at least in my case the issue is DNS. In DNS under the Reverse lookup zone I had 3 bad entries for the system (windows 8) I was browsing from to a server 2008 box. I deleted these 3 entries. I then went back to Forward Lookup Zone and un-checked (Update associated pointer (PTR record) , hit Apply, re-checked (Update associated pointer (PTR record) , hit Apply then hit OK. Then ran IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS on the system I was browsing from. The issue no longer presented it self. Hope this helps someone... Richard Dixon Senior Solutions Archtect ,xMSIT

I wanted to provide another update. I realized I was still having this problem on some of my computers. As I run my own domain at home with 2 DC's. I realized that one of my DCs date was WAY off base. It was set to 2004. I was like Dah!!!.
