You are not approved
I am the owner and administrater of my new laptop. No one else uses or has any permissions on this laptop. Why when I make a file, like one in Media, can't I add anything to it? It says I don't have approval to do it. How can I not have permission to add to any file I make no matter where I put it?enchantedshacara

Also not on the desktop? In this case I would assume, that your system has caught malware and is infected by a virus. If you run msconfig and check the Startup tab, are there any strange programs called? Especially such, which are not started from within Program Files? Best greetings from Germany Olaf

Hi, Would you please let me know what is the exactly error message received? What file cannot be edited and where did you edit at? I suggest disabling security software and enabling built-in administrator account to check the result. Click Start -> Right click computer -> Manage -> Local Users and Groups -> users -> enable Administrator account. If there is no issue with the built-in administrator account, try to create a new user account. If you receive the error message again, please help me collect the screenshot. How to capture a screenshot ------------------------------------------ 1. When the error message occurs, press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2. Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3. In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4. Save the picture onto your desktop and Upload to SkyDrive. Greetings: It was a virus. But, I still get "You are not approved to change this folder" errors in Windows Media Player folder. If I put something in it, like music, which is what I did, then i should be able to take it back out. I entered it, I should be able to take it out. Or at least I think so.enchantedshacara

Hi, I would like to verify where is "Windows Media Player folder" located? What does the meaning of "take it out", delete it? Have you tried my suggestion? If so, please let me know the result. Also, make sure the virus has been removed and the computer is clean.
