Dual boot laptop win7/xp. Internet access ok with xp but cannot get past the router with win7. Wants to reset the router which does not solve the problem. Win7 finds the network but does not participate. Suggestions?

Have you used the connect to a network in the network and sharing center? That should configure the Win 7 firewall. (Different than XP firewall)Is your AV w/firewall blocking the connection?Is the security the same on the wireless adapter and the router? ie.,WEP, WPA, WPA-2 Is the security key entered correctly?Did you check the workgroup settings under Contol Panel>System>System and Security?Any luck?ASUS P4PE-P4 Extreme 3.4gHz-2gb G.Skill PC3200-XPSP3:55gb-Win7RC:17gb-DATA:500gb-ASUS N6800GT

First, thanx for all the help and ideas. It appears that the computer god has visited us and the network now works. All I did was to turn off the laptop until today, turn it on and "bingo" it works. Still have a problem with the HP 5280 printer which does not work remotely but does work locally. Another HP printer on the network does work remotely. Hp says it is due to win7 and they are not ready yet with software updates. Thanx again.

SilverDollar,That's good news. The Win 7 compatible software for the Photosmart C5280 will be available from HP closer to 10/22/09. here.
