Yet another BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ndis.sys)

Hi,

Thank you in advance for anyone who will be reading this post. I am frequent consistent BSOD with error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ndis.sys) in my Windows 8.1 rig. As with most cases of this I've read, it's only happening when the computer is Idle - or at least if I'm not interacting with my PC. If I run a background process, or even just play I movie while I step away from my PC, the PC still crashes. It's weird that the PC doesn't crash when I'm constantly doing something. I've done a system restore to a point where I'm sure this issue was not happening yet, but unfortunately this did not solve the issue.

Yes, I've done  a ton of google search (woops, I meant bing) and found that different cases had different root causes - but most relating to a third party AV or a network driver. I never installed any third party AV and just let Defender do its job (unless I get some kind of an adware AV?). I somehow recall installing a network driver before, but could not find it so I assume it was for a different PC. If anyone can help me identify the issue, it would greatly be appreciated.

The latest minidump is in the following link: http://1drv.ms/1H8URuJ

The specs of the PC are as follows:

  • Windows 8.1 Pro x64 6.3 Build 9600
  • System Board MSI MS-7845 (GAMING Z97-G45)
  • Intel i7-4790K
  • 32GB RAM (couldn't remember manufacturer)
  • AMD Radeon R9 200
  • ASUS PCE-N10 wireless card
  • 1 x CT250BX100SSD1 250GB SSD drive + 2x WD2003FZEX Western Digital 2GB HDD drive

If there's any info needed, please let me know. I've got a full memory dump but it's too large to upload. please let me know if it's needed.

All the best. Thank you!

EDIT: Oh, sometimes the BSOD error is KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. Rarely happens, but I've seen this.

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here If you have any questions about the procedure please ask

Hi,

Your last dump file is Bug Check 0x139 KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE NETIO.sys, as you mentioned that most of cases are related to corrupted driver, especially network driver and antivirus. Try to disable antivirus (Windows Defender) temporarily and remove these device then install newest version from machine manufacturer website. We could activate Driver Verifier to obtain more information about these errors. For details, see the Driver Verifier section of the Windows Driver Kit (WDK) or following links.

Driver Verifier-- tracking down a mis-behaving driver.
