XP networking to WIN7
Very simply question I believe: Win7 will not let our stations network on. Asked for password - have none. All drives are shared on Win7. Must be a simple answer. When we click the Win7 computer in the list of workstations (they all show including 7); it will ask for a user name and password. AHWCO

Is this a corporate network with many users, or multiple computers in your home that you'd like to be able to network seamlessly? You need an account and password that matches the access information in the permissions list for the share. If computer A has shared a folder, ASHARE, then there are a list of Permissions for that Share that include Group and User names. In order for a person to connect to that share from computer B he/she will need to be a user that has an account on computer A. Companies usually set up Domain controllers to manage this, as it's impractical to manage multiple user accounts on multiple machines. Now, if you're just networking at home, add an account with the same username and password on each different system and your connections will proceed smoothly. The answer to the question at the top of this post will help people provide more detailed information.-Noel

Hi,Have a look on this page: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Networking-home-computers-running-different-versions-of-WindowsMeanwhile. if it is home network, you can try to share files to Everyone. Or you will need to let the computer which access the shared computer with a user name and password on the shard computer (you can manually create one to do the share).
