XP loses restore points
I have window XP Home and it has recently started losing the restore points. I have even created extra ones and they are gone as well. The McAfee support says there are no viruses and scans come out clean. Any ideas?

Hi James,Let’s follow these methods & check if it helps.Method 1This issue may occur if you do not have sufficient disk space on the system drive or on any one of the available non-system drives, and System Restore stops responding and stops monitoring your system. You may try to run disk cleanup. Thereafter, check if the issue persists.Using Disk CleanupMethod 2You may also run System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which will replace the missing or corrupt files & check if the issue persists.a. Type ‘cmd’ in start search box. Right click on cmd in the Program list and then select the option Run as administrator.b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannowDescription of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)For more information, refer: System Restore "restore points" are missing or deletedHope the information helps. How much space is free on your C:\ drive? Also in system restore, system restore settings, highlight C: click settings, check that the slider shows adequate disc space reserved for System restore, if not move it to the right. If the space allocated is too small, or if there is insufficient free space on the drive, older system restore points will be deleted. If neither of those are the cause, try turning off system restore, restart your PC then turn system restore back on.
