XP freeze every second time I boot.
Whether I restart or hard boot my pc I always have to do a second hard boot. XP freezes when the bootloader/ bar indicator has run for some seconds. Some times before it appears. Then I push the reset button on my case and the computer boots fine. I have to do this every time. Boot freeze->Boot OK, Boot freeze->Boot OK, Boot freeze->Boot OK, Boot freeze->Boot OK and so on.It has been like tihs allmost the whole time from i built the pc 3 years ago.Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Hi, ·What is the service pack installed on your computer?·What is the specification of the computer?·Do you remember any recent changes made on your computer prior to the issue? Check the status in safe mode, to boot the computer in safe mode:a. Restart the computer and press and hold F8 key (Press and hold f8 key before the windows logo).b. From the advanced boot option select ‘Safe mode’. Also follow the steps from the below link: Advanced troubleshooting for general startup problems in Windows XP:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308041 I would suggest you to install latest updates and patches for devices installed on the computer. If you can recreate the problem at will on every other boot, that is a good thing since if you make an adsjustment, you will know when it is fixed. We need more information and also to know what happens when it does not boot (besides it freezes). The next time you restart, ge to the XP Advances Boot Options menu by repeatedly tapping the F8 key and choose Safe Mode (with or without Networking - see what happens with both). That will let you see some display message go by as XP tries to boot and is loading various files and drivers. If you miss the F8 window of opportunity, reboot and try again. If the system hangs when booting in Safe Mode, we need to know what the last thing you see on the screen is. If it hangs, the first reaction is to try to replace whatever the last file is that you last see on the screen. That is usually not the problem though - the problem is usually going to be what comes after that file since that is where the system is hanging. If the system does not hang when booting in Safe Mode, we need to know that too. Please provide additional information about your system:What is your system make and model? What is your XP Version and Service Pack?Describe your current antivirus and anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc.Does the afflicted system have a working CD/DVD drive?Do you have a genuine bootable XP installation CD (this is not the same as any Recovery CDs that came with your system)? What external devices are connected besides keyboard and mouse? An external hard drives, CD/DVD drives, etc.? Do you have any wireless devices connected?Think about how to get your system (at least temporarily) into the most simple configuration possible where you just have the bare minimum devices connected (keyboard, mouse, monitor). You don't even have to be connected to the Internet - just see if it will boot reliably with just the basics plugged in.If you built the system yourself, when it boost properly, do this so we can see what you have (without asking a bunch of questions):Click Start, Run and in the box enter:msinfo32Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select All, Copy and then paste the information back here. For video driver information, expand the Components, click Display, click Edit, Select All, Copy and then paste the information back here. There will be some personal information (like System Name and User Name), and whatever appears to be private information to you, just delete it from the pasted information.Do, or do not. There is no try.I need YOUR votes and points for helpful replies and Propose as Answers. I am saving up for a pony!
