XP disappears; Fips not starting in normal mode
When attempting to boot in normal mode, The Windows logo appears and the blue bar moves. When it is time for the screen to blank and load the GUI interface, it blanks all right but it never comes back.I get these errors in my ntbtlog.txt file (when booting with boot log on), among others after it of course.I have no problem booting in safe mode or safe mode with networking.Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\mssmbios.sysDid not load driver Intel PentiumIII ProcessorDid not load driver NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200The event viewer says Fips and P3 services aren't starting in normal mode. I can boot just fine in safe mode and safe mode with networkng. Please help!1 person needs an answerI do too

Any luck if you use the Last Known Good Configuration?

Tried thzt; unfortunately it didn't work. Which is making me more anxious to remember to force a confiiguration change on occasion!

By doesn't work, do you mean that it behaved the same way as a "normal" boot is currently behaving? In safe mode, can you check the event logs (Event Viewer) for relevant / noteworthy events?

Yes, it behaved the same when I tried the "last good configuration" which means I don't have any last good confiigurations anymore. In safe mode, Fips and P3 load! No other relevant into; some drivers note that they won't load in safe mode (I do not have access to the machine right now).

So you've checked the event logs in the Event Viewer, in Administrative Tools, but there are no events there that would seem to provide additional details? When did this behavior start? Can you use system restore to restore the system to a point in time prior to the occurrence of the behavior?
