XP denied access to Vista
I am attempting to connect from an XP computer, a share on an Vista Ultimate computer. Both computers are part of the same work group. Identical accounts exist on both computers. The Vista computer appears in the Network work group view. If I double click on the Vista computer's icon, the message \\vista_node is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found. I also tried to use "net view \\vista_node". Again the error message "The network path was not found." appears.Conversely, the Vista computer has no problem seeing and accessing the shares on the XP computer. I have verified the node name and work group name. I have turned off the firewall. The shares have Read permission for Everyone and Network. The Vista computer does see itself if enter the Net View command. File sharing is turned on with password required. Help.
