XP cannot access the shared file in Windows 7 but Vista can
I have 3 PCs, one PC is Windows 7, one is Windows XP and one is Vista. I share some files in Windows 7, the Computers with Vista can access these files but the computer with XP cannot. I tried all I could do but still it doesn't work. When I try to access the shared file in Windows 7 from XP machine, it gives me a message like"XXX is not accessible, you might not have the permission to access this resource....balabala", modify registry. But my windows 7 can see XP in the network. For the computer with Windows 7, I set guest account off, file sharing&printer sharing on, protected password sharing off. For the shared folder, the security permissions changed on the folder(s) to allow Everyone access. Meanwhile, all the PCs are in the same group, XP and Vista can shared files with each other. Any ideas? Thanks!

In Windows 7, Guest account is not included in Everyone by default. If you turn off protected password sharing, you can only access this computer from network with the Guest account. Therefore you need to add the Guest account into the permission list of the shared folder.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Is your computer either Windows 7 professional or Windows 7 Ultimate? If so, you can open gpedit.msc. Then locate to: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\ In the right pane, open the policy “Access this computer from network” . Add Guest account into the list. Also open policy “Deny access to this computer from network”. Make sure that Guest account is not in the list. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
