XP can access Windows 7, but not vice versa
I've been trying to network a Windows 7 computer (hardwired into Actiontec wireless DSL modem) with a Windows XP sp3 computer with Actiontec wireless USB adapter. I've downloaded the hotfix for LLTD for the XP machine and see the protocol in the adapter properties. Both computers are in WORKGROUP. No firewalls are on. I have given up trying to use the networking programs for either computer and have mapped them as drives. Windows XP can ping, can see, and can open up files on the Win 7. However the Win 7 can not ping the XP (destination host unreachable). On occasions, the Win XP computer name and icon shows up in the Network area of Win 7 but I can't open it (network path not found). Once or twice I got a different error message (network device already in use or something similar to that). Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks

Hi, Since the Windows XP PC can detect the Windows 7 laptop, we can eliminate the Windows 7 network settings cause. This issue can occur by incorrect Windows XP network settings. At this stage, you can perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue on Windows XP machine. 1. Temporarily disable Windows Firewall on Windows XP machine. 2. Assure the following services are started: Computer Browser, Server, Workstation 3. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP. 4. Write down the computer name for Windows XP. Click Start button in Windows 7 and type \\XP computer name, and then press enter. Can you access the Windows XP computer now? In addition, you can also contact our Windows XP support engineer for detail suggestions. Thanks, Novak
