XP can't seem to access a shared (whole) 1TB harddrive on a Windows 7 machine on the same network
Hi there, I am having problem getting my XP Home machine to access a shared 1TB harddrive on a Win 7 Pro machine. Here's some background information: - Both machines are on the same workgroup, behind a router with wired connection - Win 7 machine has 2 harddrives (both SATA): 320GB primary drive where the OS is; and a new 1TB drive that I just added to store media files and whatnot - Some folders on the 320GB (Win 7) are shared and the XP machine has no problem accessing those folders (i.e. the networking setup seems right) - I wanted to share the *ENTIRE* 1TB (NTFS formatted) drive instead of sharing separate folders - XP machine can see the 1TB drive over "Network" on Explorer. But when I clicked on the drive, it says I don't have permission to access or the path is not correct. - I have double checked and made sure that the networking/sharing settings are exactly the same as the folders begin shared on the 320GB drive. I am utterly confused by this. Can anyone shed some light on this and how to trouble shoot? Many thanks. AM2 people need an answerI do too
