XP can't ping a specific workstation.
Have a customer where one PC was using another's shared printer. The connection to the printer was lost and I discovered the PC can not ping the printer's host PC. The host appears if you browse for it but trying to access it gets you access denied, etc. The PC in question can access any other network resourse. Other PCs can access the shared printer. XP's firewall in not running on either PC. Nothing usual in the host files. I can ping the host PC using a utility like IPScan.exe. Sadly I do not know for certain if other PCs can ping the host PC but I suspect they can if they can access the shared printer. Love to hear some thoughts on this.John.1 person needs an answerI do too

Possibly a non-Windows firewall is active on the machine with the printer. These may be hidden as part of an antivirus application (e.g., Norton's Internet Worm Protection) or even built-in to the network adapter (e.g., nVidia ActiveArmor).

Thanks but this is not the case. I can ping the host in question from another PC.
