XP System Restore
When I attempt to restore to an earlier date, upon restart I receive a message that the process was incomplete and no changes were made. I spent 7-8 hours (over several days) with MS Tech but the problem remains. I backed up and re-installed system with Gateways disc but the problem has re-occured. There is no indication of hardware failure but I can't think of anything else. Any ideas?1 person needs an answerI do too

Any ideas?Have you run any malware scanners to see if you are infected with something?I can suggest two to use:MalwareBytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and SuperAntiSpyware http://www.superantispyware.com/download.htmlTry them. If you don't want to keep them, you can uninstall them when you're through. Are you using a 3rd-party firewall, such as Norton or Zone Alarm? If so, try shutting them down before starting the restore process. Disconnect from the network before disabling them.If that doesn't work, try running System Restore in Safe mode, or Safe Mode with Command Prompt:How to start the System Restore tool by using the safe mode option with the Command prompt in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449HTH!SC Tom
