XP SP3. Takes 10-12 minutes to start up. Constant disc churning. Can't see what program is running performance display shows mostly idle.
I have 2 computers both have same problem. When you fire them up the windows display is up promptly as is desktop. Then the disc just goes and goes. Acts like it it defragging everytime you turn on the computer. Antivirus is up to date and run regularily, ran Spybot and cleaned up that stuff. No help. Also sometimes during the day the disc will just take off for 5 minutes or so. You can't use the machine while it is doing this. Any ideas ?Thanks1 person needs an answerI do too

follow my guide [1] to make a boot trace and compress the boot_BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER_1.etl as 7z or RAR and upload it to your Skydrive [2] and post the link here. To use the tool under XP, must install the WPT under Vista/7 and copy the folder to XP.I take a look at the trace, maybe I see what's wrong with your Windows.André[1] http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=140247[2] http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/
