XP Pro to XP Pro shared folder security problem.
Hi, need some help with this strange issue I have been having. We have several computers all running Windows XP Professional SP3, under same workgroup, and simple file sharing disabled. What I am trying to do is to allow some users to be able to access some shared folder, while others won't be able to access without proper user id and password. So I as for trying out, I set up a folder under C drive called "Networktemp" on ComputerA and created the user "Chiang" that is also on ComputerB. Added "ComputerA\Chiang" in the Sharing and also Security properties. Removed "Everyone" from permission. When I tried to access "ComputerA\Networktemp" it prompted \\ComputerA\Networktemp is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied. If I add "Everyone" to sharing permission and security properties, then the folder is accessible, but that's not what I wanted. I only want certain group of people can access certain shared folders. If you have any idea how to solve this, please let me know. As I have tried many things from the Microsoft knowledge board already. Thanks in advance!2 people need an answerI do too
