XP Networking mappings to Windows 7 stops working
I have recently deployed a Windows 7 professional workstation which acts as a file server. I have several XP workstations and one Vista workstation that map to the data folder on the Windows 7 Pro workstation. I manage to establish the network mappings on all the workstations but for obscure reason keep losing the connection on the XP workstations. When I try to access the network drive, I am getting permission errors. I can RDP into my Windows 7 from my XP workstation, I can ping the windows 7 workstation but cannot remap the network drive. I have removed any firewalls that may exist.

Apparently you need to tell Windows that you want to use the machine as a file server and that it should allocate resources accordingly. Set the following registry key to ‘1′: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache and set the following registry key to ‘3′: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\Size After making these changes and restarting, I haven’t seen this issue arise again http://alan.lamielle.net/2009/09/03/windows-7-nonpaged-pool-srv-error-2017
