XP Media detecting XBOX 360 but I don't have one. Malware?
Message popup in the notification area with a gray icon/exclamation point says "A new xbox 360 has been detected. Double click here to connect to this computer. I don't have an xbox. The last time I saw this and clicked on it turned out to be some kind of virus that took over my laptop, freezing it up and ____ icons popup on the desk topand I have to use the 2 recovery disk to repair it. I've ran Mcafee virus scan and it doesn't find it. The website doesn't mention it. How can I get rid of this? Thanks in advance. FYI recent install-Skpe, yahoo messenger, www.tune-uputility.com1 person needs an answerI do too

Those "tune-up utilities" are snake oil at best, at worst will damage your operating system. See: http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 McAfee is possibly the worst choice for protection. I recommend NOD32 (commercial), Avast or Avira (free versions available). The built-in Windows Firewall is fine for most people and third-party firewalls cause more trouble than they're worth. For an antispyware program I like the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware . Update and scan with it manually regularly. To make sure your computer is really clean (which you haven't proved by just using McAfee): http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
