XP Home has NO Advanced Settings Tab where KB310751 says there should be. How could this be? Its to check DMA!
Reading the steps in KB310751 ;Click START, click RUN, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.Right-click the controller that you want to configure DMA/PIO settings for, then click PROPERTIES.THE NEXT STEP DOESN'T SHOW UP:Click the ADVANCED SETTINGS tab.In the TRANSFER MODE box, click either PIO ONLY or DMA IF AVAILABLE.That's how Microsoft says it's done BUT steps 4 & 5 aren't available on my system.I'm running XP Home ver. 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600 Any place else I can check for DMA??1 person got this answerI do too

John, thank you so much for solving this problem. Yes I do have the Intel Application Accelerator. And here I thought I had a gummed up operating system, thanks again, Patrick
