XP Home has NO Advanced Settings Tab where KB310751 says there should be. How could this be? Its to check DMA!
Reading the steps in KB310751 ;Click START, click RUN, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.Right-click the controller that you want to configure DMA/PIO settings for, then click PROPERTIES.THE NEXT STEP DOESN'T SHOW UP:Click the ADVANCED SETTINGS tab.In the TRANSFER MODE box, click either PIO ONLY or DMA IF AVAILABLE.That's how Microsoft says it's done BUT steps 4 & 5 aren't available on my system.I'm running XP Home ver. 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600 Any place else I can check for DMA??1 person needs an answerI do too

If you have the Intel Application Accelerator or Intel Matrix Storage Manager installed the DMA options are managed by the Intel software and they won't show in the Device Manager.John
