XP Home: Taking ownership of a folder: Logistical problem
I am running XP Home 2002 on a personal computer. I have been inexplicably locked out of accessing data on an external hard drive (E:\). The tech support at the company that makes the hard drive suggested logging in as the administrator, and taking ownership of the drive.I have been following the instructions they pointed me to, at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421.I understand that in order to log in as administrator in XP Home, I have to run Safe Mode. However, after doing that, the only thing I can figure out how to do is to run System Restore. This is not what I need, because after logging in as an administrator I am actually supposed to take ownership of the protected file. I just can't figure out how to get from Point A (logging in as admin in Safe Mode) to Point B (taking ownership), while skipping past System Restore, which I don't need.Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.1 person got this answerI do too
