I assume that you mean Windows Defender (Microsoft's free antisypware program). To disable it, click Start > All Programs > Windows Defender > Tools > Options and un-check the Use real-time protection (recommended) box. To un-install it, go to Control Panel > Classic View > Add or Remove Programs .Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

It's XP Defender Pro. It keeps telling me that my system is infected when it's not. I just ran a scan of my computer this morning and came up with no infections.

XP Defender Pro is a rogue security program that pretends to find infected files on your computer and tries to get you to pay for the program. Don't do it! To close its window, click red "X" in the title bar at the top of the window or press Alt-F4 on the keyboard. If you'd like to try to remove it yourself, see How to remove XP Security Tool 2010, XP Defender Pro, and Vista Security Tool 2010 (Uninstall Guide) at BleepingComputer.com . If the above advices won't work try this method: 1. Go to Start->Run or press WinKey+R. Type in "command" and press Enter key. 2. In the command prompt window type "notepad". Notepad will come up. 3. Copy all the text in bold below and paste into Notepad. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.exe] [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\secfile] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secfile] [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\shell\open\command] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command] @="\"%1\" %*" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe] @="exefile" "Content Type"="application/x-msdownload" 4. Save file as fix.reg to your Desktop. NOTE: (Save as type: All files) 5. Double-click on fix.reg file to run it. Click "Yes" for Registry Editor prompt window. Then click OK. 6. Download one of the following anti-malware applications: SUPERAntispyware Spybot S&D MalwareBytes Anti-malware 7. Install the selected application, update it an run a system scan. Good luck!
