XP 64 bit Can't connect to internet____Network card is automatically configuring the wrong IP address when I am trying to use a wireless usb adapter to connect to router.__
My computer is supposed to connect thru a Verizon router wirelessly with a usb adapter Another computer is the main one that is connected to the internet by router and a cable to that computer's network card. I am not able to connect to the internet since I have gotten a new computer with XP Pro 64 bit installed. Verizon says they can see both computers so it is not on their end. The main computer can connect to the internet and I used to be able to connect to the internet whether that computer was on or not. I had Windows XP Home Ed. then. One of the messages I have gotten in the Event log is "Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 001839179027. The IP address being used is 169.254.105.77Can anyone provide any information on this? I didn't think I was using the network card since I am using the usb wireless network adapter, if I can get it to work like it did on my old computer.1 person needs an answerI do too
