Taskbar turned into small grey strip along bottom. (able to right click and call up desktop toolbar). Start button doesn't work though. according to site below, this are the "General GUI Issues" IE7 flashes and closes. Can't access internet to run malware or whatnot. Click on McAfee and nothing happens. FOUND THAT ISSUE IS CAUSED BY MCAFEE'S FIASCO https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB68790 Their support bulletins and methodology didn't work. I was able to remove McAfee after installing their MCPR2.exe file on a flash drive on a clean computer and running it on the infected one. Their fix for restoring the svchost.exe file didn't work but I was able to get a copy from another uninfected machine running XP (C:Windows\system32\svchost.exe) copy it to the flash drive, move the flash drive to the infected machine, and then go into Run - cmd to get to DOS and move the file ("copy F:\svchost.exe C:\windows\system32\ and then restarting.
