Workstation Goes Crazy
We have a win7 workstation is a Win2003 domain that is acting crazy. Occassionally the workstation freeezes, the desktop is present but no icons or start bar and task manager cannot be accessed. I know that one of the causes could be malware (we use Sophos) but all the scans for malware have come up negative. What else should we be looking at?

Get process explorer from sysinternals, find the bogus process that is taking cpu frams un-necessary and suspend it by right clicking. The get malwarebytes and scan your computer with that. You can also use a different user profile with admin rights to have more freedom with cleaning. Please do not forget to select the best answer if it helps you! The "going crazy" does not happen all the time and when it does it is unexpected. Can the Process Explorer log processes so that you can view after the craziness and see what process went wild?

You may use performance monitor, and create a collector for CPU usage. Not sure Xperf could do this in Windows Server 2003, as I have limited experience on Xperf.
