Working with mandatory profiles
gbeulque2 wrote: Hello, I would like to ask a question concerning mandatory profiles. We have a school environment with 400 PC's. Some of them use XP x32 others use W7 x32 and the newest PC's use W7 x64. We have a Windows 2003 Domain, but the DC is Windows 2008 R2. We would like to use a mandatory profile for our users that is provided from a file server. So we would like to have one mandatory profile provided from a Windows share and linked in the user profile path. But we wonder if this is possible? Can one mandatory profile serve both x32 and x64 and both XP and W7? And if not, how can we approach what we have in mind (working with mandatory profiles from one network location) for all our users. Users logon on different computers (so they all use XP, W7, x32 and x64). How can we make this work? Thanks for any advice and help!! Kind regards, Geoffrey :)   It does work the same with mandatory and non mandatory network profiles. The network profile path for Vista and Win7 is internally changed to profile-path.V2. So in fact the user's profile on WinNT till WinXP PCs share the specified profile-path, whereas on Vista and Win7 PCs they share the profile-path.V2 . Vista and Win7 does not differentiate between x86 and AMD64 architecture in the profiles, but it does work. BTW if you want for any reason to have different profiles for x86 and AMD64 versions of the OS you can add the %PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE% variable to your profile path (e.g.: profile-path\%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE% - then your 32-bit OS profile is profile-path\x86 for XP, profile-path\x86.V2 for Win7-32 and your 64-bit OS profile is profile-path\AMD64.V2 for Win7-64 ). I personally like it if each OS and 32-bit and 64-bit versions use different profiles. HTH Wolfgang
