Wireless stuck 'loading' but no problem when wired
Dell 6400 laptop running XP has Wireless (IntelPro) that just sits 'loading page' (unsuccessfully) after seemingly accessing internet (wireless network connection recognized and has VG to EXC signal strength). Will load immediately and function correctly if hardwire connected via LAN (Broadcom) to router. Manual diagnostic tools of wireless all check out as 'passed'. Already tried to download recommended network related drivers from Dell. Did all the usual housekeeping.....cleared history, cookies, etc. Defragged completely. Is this fixable by reinstalling Windows XP? (always hate doing that!) Any ideas????? Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.....1 person needs an answerI do too

Well $%^& !!!. I see no other responses!!! Guess I will have to post my own answer....... =) For others with a similar problem, take heart. I tried to download and install new drivers for the Intel Pro Pro wireless at Dell's support site ....but to no avail . After struggling with this issue for a LONG while, I was about to throw in the towel. Then had the bright idea to go to the source ! I went to Intel's download site and downloaded the spanking new version of the drivers (Intel Pro wireless 3945ABG)..........installed that and the new version of the connection utility....... LO AND BEHOLD..........SUCCESS !!!!!!!!!! The laptop is now functioning correctly and after all the effort cleaning/defragging/etc...... runs better than it has in a while. Needless to say, I'm pleased. Hope this helps anyone out there with a wireless that is not cooperating. Remember to pay attention to what Windows version you are running to download the correct update. Good luck!
