Wireless settings on the windows XP client to reduce the roaming tendency
We have XP windows machines using the windows wireless clients. We are facing issues with the clients frequently roaming between the access points, though they have a good network signal and are stationary. Would like to understand the algorithm used by windows to roam between the access points. Is there any particular setting in terms of SNR/RSSI which can be set on the client to reduce the roaming.I have already tried the conservative settings in the client properties but no help.

HiIt is Not XP. Vista or Win 7 issue. It is a general issue how Wireless 802.11a/b/g/n works, and. I doubt that you would find a solid solution via Windows.Entry Level hardware cannot deal correctly with roaming either. The electric noise of the environment is so noisy at Wireless frequency band that it is hard to find a real working stable signal. The way to deal with it is through Hardware devices (Access Points) that are capable to take roaming into consideration.Cisco and others, have lines of Wireless hardware that are capable to help in roaming control.
