Wireless router on Acer laptop not working
Hello, My friends Acer laptop is not connecting to the wifi in her home. In the bottom right where it shows your internet connection, only the symbol for a wired connection will come up with the red x, not the wireless bars symbol. Under device manager i found the wireless adapter to be a Conceptronic 54mbps usb adapter, which i believe is the wireless adapter. It has a yellow exclamation point next to it, and when i got to properties it give an error in the description: This device cannot start. (Code 10) Wondering why this isnt working. Did a factory reinstall of windows and this is one of the many bugs which came up afterwards. Thanks

If you use factory install and reinstall does not help, then let the vendor's support do the work. This is the procedure valid for recovery DVD. If you have OEM installation DVD, then download drivers first (from vendor's support page). After vanilla plain installation, install chipset first, then audio, video, lan and wifi drivers. Update Windows and DO NOT use optional drivers that MS site offers. If you have external wifi, install it exactly according to guide (ususally software first, plug device after beiing asked for it.) Hi, Firstly, please try the steps in Code 10: The device cannot start and see how it works. You can also manually download and install the wireless NIC driver for your model from Acer Driver download website. If issue persists, please capture screenshots for the issue and post here. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support
