Wireless problem with Via wireless network adaptor included with Zotac 9300 itx mobo
I am trying to get a wireless networking connection using Via's wireless netowrk adapter that is included with Zotac's 9300 itx wi-fi motherboard. It uses the Via 6656 chip and connects to a USB header on the mobo.Networking/Internet works fine using wired connection. The wireless adapter drivers appear to install fine and the device shows up as properly working. When I go to the 'Change Adapter Settings' the Wireless shows with a red x and the green signal icon. When I click on 'diagnose' after right mouse-click on the adapter everything appears to go fine until it checks to see if the 'wireless connectivity problems' have been resolved, after which I get a 'Investigate router or access points' message.I have tried all combinations of un-installing and re-installing both the device and the drivers, with no resolution. This includes multiple versions of the drivers for both Vista and XP. Please let me know if there is anything else I should be looking at/doing to resolve this since I must have wireless running on this box.

Did you check Windows update for a driver?

Thank you for responding.Yes. It says that its up to date, unless I'm misunderstanding you.I left out the fact that I'm using Windows 7 RC, Build 7200 64bit.Its currently installed as 'VIA Technologies USB Wireless LAN Adapter#2' Sometimes it re-installs as #2 instead of just 'VIA Technologies USB Wireless LAN Adapter' even though there is only the one adapter.Driver files are:C:\Windows\system32\difxapi.dll Provided by MS, version 2.1, not digitally signed.C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\VW6UX64V.SYS Provided by Via Networking Technologies, Inc. version 1.28.0.00, Signed: Microsoft Windows Hardware CompatibilityC:\Windows\system32\vuins64.dll Provider Not available, version 1.7.9.12, Signed: Microsoft Windows Hardware CompatabilityI hope the additional information helps.

I downloaded drivers from the Windows update site: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx[microsoft.com] and tried to update drivers by using the download folder as the location to pull the driver from. Windows says that 'The best driver software for your device is already installed.'

We only support public builds 7000 and 7100 in this forum.

nullObject, I am also running win 7 64bit. Using the same VIA card, on a Zotac 8200 (AMD platform). I also can not get the wireless working - same problem. If you find a solution, will you share please. Thanks.

Bobjs - try this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID} In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network. On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value . In the New Value #1 box, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, and then press ENTER. Right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle , and then click Modify . In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK . Close Registry Editor.
