I just purchased new desktop. Came with XP installed and disc to install Windows 7 Professional. When I first fired it up with XP, wireless networks were visible. After reboot and installing Windows 7 Prof. it doesn't see any networks, it only loops me back and tells me ethernet not plugged in. Short of dragging it all back to ethernet cable any suggestions?

I suggest you post somthing we could use to help you, just telling us you have an issue is not going to help.

What is your new desktop, be specific as to make, model and model #. We understand you're connecting wirelessly, but you haven't told us to what you're connecting to like something your ISP provided, or a Linksys hub/wireless router. Did your desktop come with a driver cd? if so have you installed any drivers for the Windows 7 and is it 32bit or 64bit. Have you updated the bios? Have you updated the firmware on the wireless router? Have you correctly configured your wireless connection to communicate? From your description i assume the new rig is comes preinstall with xp so most likely the drivers are install and wireless setting has been configure, say if you install win 7 from scratch as in fresh install then you might need to install the drivers and even if the drivers are already there, you would still need to configure the wireless setting. Like what other mention, what router are you using as well as do you need to input username or password provided by the ISP to access the net?

Hi, Please answer the above questions. Also, please pay attention on following items: 1. Assure the Wireless network adapter driver is installed successfully. You can open Device Manager and verify it. 2. Please turn on another machine and check whether it can detect the Wireless network. 3. Assure the WLAN AutoConfig service is started and temporarily disable firewall to check the result. Thanks, Novak
