Wireless network drops every so often
Hi, I have an ATT Plug and Share 6500G wireless adapter installed in my Win7 64bit machine. Unfortunately the driver from ATT does not work in 64bit so I have resorted to using the Atheros drivers (atheros_v7.4.2.57). However, it does not work perfectly. Everything works fine for periods of time but I will get intermittent drops in packets. I never have to reconnect to the network but whether I am streaming, downloading, or playing a game, the throughput will goto 0 and after a couple seconds reconnect. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has anyone found a solution? http://www.plugandshare.att.com/plugandshareui/product/item_guide.cfm?itemID=8F72788C-5625-43DE-9866-BB3CAE4CDB8E&type=software&headerFilter=product/software/guide http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14833

You will need the correct driver to get this to work correctly, so you may be best off if you simply installed the 32 bit Windows 7.

Hi Adam, I went ahead and ghetto installed another wireless adapter, using Hawkings Tech Mini USB adapter (HWU54G) with driver Zydas ZD1211 64bit driver. The exactly same problem. Thus I figured out that the real problem was the ATT 2wire router that came with Uverse. I have manually set the wireless channel to 6 which fixed my problems. It was previously set to Auto and I had tried channel 10, which both did not work. As documentation, the following adapters work with their respective drivers. ATT Plug and Share 6500G - useatheros_v7.4.2.57 Hawking HWU54G - use zd1211, but it is an unsigned driver.
