Wireless link has disappeared from Sony XP laptop, but link still works on Vista computer. However, Sony can still detects other networks.
I have an "oldish" Sony laptop running XP Professional, Service Pack 3, using a wireless router, Netgear. It has worked well for years, but last week, in the middle of a session, I suddenly lost the wireless signal. The router works fine with my other, Vista, computer. The strange thing is that the Sony can see other networks in the building, and occasionally also my network, but does not connect. When I try to connect manually the connection disappears again. Has there been a XP update that can possibly be the cause or is there an other explanation? 1 person got this answerI do too

Hi SveinD99, Thanks for posting. The first thing I would recommend you do is go to the manufacturer site and redownload and install the wireless driver. I would also contact the manufacturer to see if they have any hardware diagnostics they can run to test and make sure the hardware is sound and working correctly. Hope this helps. Thanks Shawn, I have "hardwired" the Sony, via the router, to the net so I'll try to find the latest wireless driver on the Sony site and see what happens.
