Wireless internet extremely slow on laptop despite excellent signal strength
i just purchased a new Dell laptop running Windows 7. When plugged directly into the Ethernet DSL cable it runs fine, but when connected wirelessly, I cannot surf the Internet due to pages loading extremely slowly (up to 5-10 min per page). I have a Netgear 802.11n router. My IPod touch works great with it as does my wireless printer. What should I try to resolve this problem? I purchased this laptop computer just for being able to connect to the Internet throughout the house! Simple instructions, please...I am a computer novice.

Hi, For this issue, I would like to suggest you take the following steps to check the result: 1. Update the Wireless adapter driver to the latest. 2. Reset the wireless router to see how it works. 3. Try another browser to test if this issue still exists. If not, try to reset Internet Explorer: How to reset Internet Explorer settings 4. Reset the TCP\IP and winsock: Open an elevated command prompt, type the following commands: netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset reset.log Restart computer to take settings effect. You may a Netgear router that's N capable, but that doesn't mean it is configured properly. Use the Netgear user's guide to access the router, and configure the wireless security to WPA-2\AES and set the passphrase to a word that you will remember. Windows 7 will not be happy with WEP secured connection. You will have to reconnect the printer and IPod. Check the printer's specs to determine if it can handle WPA2 security.
