Wireless connection stall out/not connecting
I reinstalled xp with sp3, tried to connect to my wireless network and it said I needed a hexidecimal PW. I did that and it just keeps waiting on network. Well, it waited and waited until it timed out I guess because it goes back to the point of my needing to connect again. My other laptop connected just fine. Help!1 person needs an answerI do too

HiLog with the working computer to the Router and disable the Wireless security.Make sure that the other computer can get a connection without the security. When it works redo the security.Wireless in general, http://www.ezlan.net/wireless.html Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

I did as you suggested and when I disabled the security it worked just fine.I reapplied my security and got the same problem again. It asked for my pw and I again had to do the Hexadecimal and it never connected.

HiWhat are you using that asks for Hex instead of ascii password?Try to Copy the Hex code from the Router by using ctl-c then paste it into the Wireless box when it comes up, usingctl-vJack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

CTL - C, etc. see here, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126449By using keyboard shortcuts you can avoid typos in the key.Quote. "Authentication type WPA-PSK and encryption tech TKIP along with security mode WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK)".This is a mix that might Not be supported by the wireless card.Just use simple WPA-PSK /TKIP.
