Wireless Zero Configuration
I used to have wireless connection to my router, but can now only connect via lead. My internet provider has run through my system and tells me the Wireless Zero Configuration file is missing. How do I recover it? (keep it simple please!)1 person needs an answerI do too

Right-click My Computer and select Manage. The expand Services and Spplications and choose Services. Slide to the bottom and look for "Wireless Zero Configuration". Is it there? If you're using third-party wireless controller software (Dell computers usually have one) controlling your wireless card, the Wireless Zero Configuration may not be active.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

Was originally guided here by I/P, tried again but not showing at all. Although I have never had to check to this level before, I had the wireless working ok until a couple of weeks ago. Then it just disappeared.

ALL CAPS is hard to read and looks like you're shouting. That said...what kind of computer is it? What operating system are you running? Specifically what symptoms/error messages are you seeing?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I should add that this is a new machine and I am trying to activate the wireless card. I do not get any specific error message. The card is a 3945 ABG if this helps.

Brian--thank you so much for posting this answer because it just saved me from having to pay to talk to a service consultant on the phone. That was such a huge help to get my Windows wireless network configuration back on track! Thanks again!Hayley

Thank you Brian, after a serious amount of messing around by so called 'Tech Guys' at PCWorld, 3 sentences from yourself has solved the problem.

If it's a new machine, your best approach would be to contact the manufacturer.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]------------------------------If a reply helps, please vote it as helpful. If a reply solves the issue, please mark it as an answer.
